Cinemetal Debut: Chimaira’s “All That Left is Blood” Video Will Have You Seeing Red
Now that I’ve heard the entire thing, I am beyond thrilled to let you know that Chimaira‘s new album, Crown of Phantoms, is freakin’ awesome. Mark Hunter’s new line-up have managed to write something that sounds of a kind with the rest of Chimaira’s output without sacrificing their own identities — which is to say, you’re never not aware that Emil Werstler is playing guitar, Austin D’Amond is playing drums, that second set of vocals is coming from Sean Z., etc. And the songs are just… awesome. Heavy and groovy and catchy and everything you want from Chimaira songs.
Fans who sprung for the deluxe edition of the album will be getting a bonus DVD, too, which is also pretty goddamn great: it features multiple in-depth documentaries and music videos, all directed by Ohio Sky keyboardist Patrick Finegan (he also contributed some work to The Age of Hell, when Chimaira were, um, “in-between keyboardists”). Although it’s Finegan’s first time working with the band and his approach is decidedly different from that of their past videographer, Todd Bell, he maintains that which is most important: a sense of honesty, of vicarious “you-are-there”-ness, for lack of a better word. This is a big part of the reason why fans like me have become so attached to the group over the years.
MetalSucks is pleased as pot to debut the band’s new video, for the single “All That’s Left is Blood.” Check it out below!
