Thy Art is Murder… Specifically, Slaughter
Thy Art is Murder are a generic deathcore band from Australia who have been involved with exactly one memorable event: a video in which a Rings of Saturn fan makes his obese cat air drum along with one of their songs. But they seem to have a lot of heat on them right now because I have no fucking idea why: they were one of this year’s candidates for the Summer Slaughter tour’s opening slot — every year fans get to choose the band who will occupy that slot — but they lost the vote to the aforementioned Rings of Saturn by a mere 1%. This being the case, the tour’s organizers have apparently decided to go ahead and add them to the bill anyway.
To review: we could have had Last Chance to Reason, Howl, Nekrogoblikon, Soreption, or Abiotic on the bill, but instead we are getting Half-Rings of Saturn and Thy Art is Mehder.
I would once again like to thank humanity for having horrible fucking taste. Assholes.
ANYWAY, the good news is that the rest of the line-up for the trek is stellar: The Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, Norma Jean, Cattle Decapitation, The Ocean, Revocation, and Aeon will all appear. And since RoS and TAiM are the first two bands on the bill, you can just get to the venue late.
And speaking of venues, the first two dates of the tour have been announced:
7/20 Los Angeles, CA @ House of Blues
8/7 New York, NY @ Best Buy Theater
It’s interesting to note that Irving Plaza, which has traditionally been Summer Slaughter’s home in NYC, has a capacity of 1,200, while the Best Buy has a capacity of 2,100. That makes sense, given that Dillinger have sold-out Irving Plaza on their own. I just thought it was worth mentioning!
