Ghost B.C. Declare the “B.C.” to Stand for “Bullcrap”
Earlier this year Ghost were forced to change their name to ‘Ghost B.C.’ for legal reasons, and I, being a belligerent prick who takes these kinds of things too seriously, declared that “I’m never ever gonna refer to Ghost as ‘Ghost B.C.’.”
Well, as it turns out, the band agrees with my conclusion.
Speaking to Italy’s Soundsblog.it, one of the band’s Nameless Ghouls — let’s just call him “Ralph” — declared that “we are never ever ever ever ever ever gonna call ourselves Ghost B.C.in any way,” outdoing my own passionate stance by a whopping four “ever”s.
Ralph then continued:
“It’s like saying ‘I’m going out and buy a Ferrari STE’ — you don’t do that, you just say, ‘I’m gonna buy a Ferrari.’ The B.C. is silent, and as soon as we can, it’s gonna be taken away forever.”
So, there you have it, from the mouths of babes: the whole “Ghost B.C.” thing is bullcrap and we can go on referring to them simply as “Ghost,” and the band have used the rumored sizable advance for their new album, Infestissumam, to purchase Ferrari STEs.
On a somewhat related note, a few MetalSucks readers have emailed us over the past few days to point out that much as the cover art for Opus Eponymous paid homage to the poster for the film version of Stephen King’s novel, Salem’s Lot…
…the cover for Infestissumam is a tribute to the poster for the film version of Peter Shaffer’s play, Amaedeus:
Good catch friends! I’m a little embarrassed I didn’t pick up on it myself. I wonder if the homage indicates anything about the album’s lyrical themes?
Infestissumam comes out Tuesday, and is now streaming here. The band begins a headlining tour at the end of this week. Get dates here. They are a ton of fun to see live so you’re not gonna wanna miss ’em! And don’t forget to watch our exclusive video interview with Ralph, in which he discusses the the Infestissumam track “Per Aspera Ad Inferi!”
