Six Feet Under Have a “Zombie Blood Curse”
It’s been less than a year since the release of Six Feet Under’s last album, Undead, but they already have a new one completed and on the verge of release. It’s called Unborn; the “un” prefix and similar album art suggests that there’s some connection between the two albums (besides the fact that they’re both by SFU, duh), but don’t get your hopes up for more material from ex-Chimaira guitarist Rob Arnold. While he did co-write one song on the record, “Psychosis,” and plays guitar on both that track and another called “Inferno,” that’s as far as his involvement goes. There’s still some co-mingling with other talented younger artists, though — Whitechapel guitarist Ben Savage wrote and plays on several tunes on the album, as does Torture Killer’s Jari Laine. (Barnes, you may recall, revealed that he’d also collaborated with Savage in this MetalSucks interview.)
You can now stream one of the Laine-penned tracks, “Zombie Blood Curse,” below. I think it’s pretty good, although as an Arnold fanboy, yeah, I’d obviously love to hear some more of his stuff, which had a real The Bleeding-era Cannibal Corpse feel to it. It seems like fans were pretty much in universal agreement that Undead was the best SFU album in years, if not ever; we’ll see if Unborn is a worthy follow-up when Metal Blade releases it on March 19. In the meantime, you can pre-order it here.
