Mastodon’s Brent Hinds Found His Dog
On New Year’s Eve, Mastodon’s Brent Hinds lost his Catahoula Pit mix, Dingus. The dog has since been located and reunited with Hinds.
I don’t mean to sound insensitive, because if I ever lost my own dog, I would definitely cry like a little girl with a skinned knee. I am SO HAPPY AND RELIEVED that everything worked out for Brent and Dingus. (I am also laughing in my mind at all the people looking at the above photo and trying to decipher Brent Hinds’ phone number. “Dude, is that a 2 or a 3 near the end???”)
But what I really want to talk about is this photo, of Dingus resting at home after his return:
It’s the gun which immediately leaps out at me, as I’d assume it does 99.9% of everyone who looks at this photo. It’s not that Hinds owns a gun that surprises me, but… does he just, like, leave it lying around like that, next to the remote controls? Is that generally what one does with a gun? I’ve never owned one. I always thought if I did, though, I’d keep it in a shoe box on the top shelf in the closet, like people always do in the movies. It never occurred to me that it might be just be sitting on the night stand. Is that normal? That does not seem normal.
There’s also the possibility that Hinds deliberately placed the gun in the photo, either because he thought it would be funny, or because he was being macho. Physical altercations that ended in a coma aside, though, Hinds doesn’t really strike me as being macho. And I guess it is kinda funny. So maybe that’s what’s going on here.
And then I found twenty bucks.
