First Taste of Phil Anselmo Solo Music Coming in January
On top of the gajillion other things Phil Anselmo has in the pipeline — including an autobiography and a horror film festival, both in collaboration with MetalSucks’ own Corey Mitchell — the legendary vocalist has been also been working on his first solo album (which seems to be a theme today), which will be called Walk Through Exits Only. Anselmo has been in so many bands covering such a wide range of styles, from thrash to hardcore to grind to stoner metal to black metal — that it’s really hard to predict what his solo material might sound like…
…but we won’t have to wait that long to find out: on January 8, Anselmo and Warbeast will release a split 10″, entitled War of the Gargantuas (which is also the name of a Japanese monster movie from the 60s), on Anselmo’s own Housecore Records; the split will include two songs from Walk.
That’s really all the info that’s available right now, although I wouldn’t be that surprised if a song from the split made its online debut before the end of the year. While we keep our fingers crossed for that to happen, you can get a small sneak peak of the album art in the above promo image; that Bigfoot-looking thing in the lower right corner is clearly modeled after Anselmo himself, which, I have to say, is pretty funny.
