TERRIFIC NEWS, PART 2: CARNIFEX ARE GIVING US ALL A BREAK
Sorry, that’s a typo. What I meant to say is, “Carnifex are taking a break.”
Look, I know a lot of people love this band… but I don’t understand that love at all. Their most recent album was called Until I Feel Nothing, which is a great description my reaction to their music; the nicest thing Kellhammer could find to say about the record was basically, “Hey, it could be worse!” (She’s an optimist, that one.) The news that they are, in their own words, “in a state of suspended animation” does not really bother me.
Also: can we please just agree from now on that every inactive band is “on a break” until the important members of that band (e.g., the Hetfields and Ulrichs, the Ians and Benantes, etc.) are dead? Any broken-up band could reunite at any time, and any band that’s “on a break” could end up never getting back together; I understand there’s a difference of intention, but intention is basically irrelevant in these cases.
ANYWAY, here are the band’s last three shows (for now) if this news makes you sad and you wanna go say your not-really-goodbyes:
12/21 San Diego, CA – SOMA Mainstage
12/22 Anaheim, CA – Chain Reaction
12/23 Hollywood, CA – The Whisky A Go Go
