DEFTONES NEWS: TWO NEW DEFTONES JAMZ LIVE IN L.A.
Taintpic by 13th Witness
In August, the Deftones will play two weeks of arena dates with System Of A Down and then the inaugural Knotfests, but this past weekend singer Chino Moreno and crew premiered two new songs at intimate Los Angeles gigs. That’s awesome cuz we’re still months out from the tentative October 9 release date for their seventh album, to which these jamz “Rosemary” and “Roller Derby” will belong. So shit yeah, to fans this early preview is very welcome — and helps to account for the loyalty that drove 2010’s Diamond Eyes to hearty sales despite their youngish, stealy fan demo — though y’know the band may’ve been aiming at nothing more than a couple trial runs of their untested new shit.
But whatever. The point: New Deftones jamz, u boner, life rulz. And tho/cuz the clips (below) are fan-filmed so the sound quality is such that notes and keys are unclear, each jam might remind u of other Deftones classics: The hazy, sluggish “Rosemary” recalls much of their self-titled 2003 record and “Change (In The House Of Flies)”; and your brain may superimpose the lyrics of “Rapture” or “Rats! Rats! Rats!” (from 2006’s Saturday Night Wrist) atop “Roller Derby.” Listen below and internet me @AnsoDF with your thoughts/naked pics!
