“MAKE SURE” YOU LISTEN TO THE NEW MARK MORTON SONG
At least Mark Morton is keeping busy during this whole Randy Blythe drama: he’s just released a new solo track, “To Make Sure,” for free download. And lest you think it’s something that’s been sitting on his shelf for however long, his Facebook message announce the song’s release says that ” i worked on [the song] with some friends the other night.” That also ends with the “#freerandyblythe” hash tag, although I’m not clear if the song is about Blythe, or Morton was just reminding us all that Blythe is jail and that sucks.
ANYWAY, the song is not metal, at all — in fact, it’s even less metal than those Born of the Storm songs he released with DevilDriver’s Dez Fafara and Six Feet Under’s Kevin Talley earlier this ear. If those tunes were basically southern-fried hard rock, this is a full-on Allman Brothers ballad. That’s not a slight — I’m just saying, if you download this thing hoping for the next “Hourglass” or whatever, you’re gonna be bummed.
