STEVE HARRIS MADE A SOLO ALBUM

It’s no secret that Steve Harris has been instrumental (no pun intended) to the success of Iron Maiden during that group’s seven-decade-plus career, but now the bassist is going to find out if anyone gives a shit about him with the protection of his usual brand: on September 25, UMe will release British Lion, Harris’ debut solo album.

Although a press release promises that “British Lion is an altogether different beast from Maiden,” between Harris and the involvement of regular Maiden mixer Kevin Shirley, it’s hard to believe that it won’t at least have Maiden-esque moments. But who knows, maybe Harris has been sitting on some really great Gordon Lightfoot-esque material all these years.

The press release also says that there will be vocals by Richard Taylor, although it doesn’t make it clear who Richard Taylor is, and whether or not he sings on the whole album, or just a song called “This is My God.” I’m assuming it’s not this dude from the Gin Blossoms.

ANYWAY, I look forward to hearing some of this, and holding it against Harris if it’s not as good as Iron Maiden.
