MORE VIDEO FOOTAGE OF THE RANDY BLYTHE INCIDENT SURFACES
Before we go any further, a quick thought: while all we’ve been hearing from every site in the metalverse for the past four days has been “Randy Randy Randy,” why haven’t any mainstream music outlets picked up this story yet? Respected publications like Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Gawker and Idolator have uttered nary a peep; shame on you. Even the New York Times mustered the courage to cover this one, as did Spin. Friggin’ Spin!
With that out of the way, let’s look at the latest development in this crazier-by-the-minute story: more video footage has surfaced of the Czech Republic concert at which Blythe’s alleged manslaughter killing of 19-year old “Daniel N.” Footage posted earlier today showed Blythe interacting with Daniel N. after the latter had jumped on stage, but it turned out that while that clip was indeed filmed at the same show, the incident shown was not the one for which Blythe is being charged.
The Gauntlet has obtained video footage of all three times Daniel N. jumped on stage at the show in question. Watch below:
Here is the Gauntlet’s description of the three scenes shown above:
Scene #1 Daniel attempts to climb on stage, suddenly thrusts backwards and hits his head. This is the footage that people have been looking for and looks very violent. The problem is if you look closely, Randy doesn’t kick him. Randy is in the area, but there is a security guard on the floor level that bear hugs Daniel and slams him to the ground. Randy never touched him as seen by his legs what never made a kicking motion. It is very quick, so it is slowed down. People not in the front row most likely never saw the security guard and just saw Randy in the area. We showed this clip to one of our sources that was there in the “3rd or 4th row.” He stated “I never saw a guard there and wouldn’t have believed it unto seeing this. Unbelievable.” Have police or prosecutors spoken with the guard?
Scene #2: Another piece of footage unseen until now. Daniel gets on stage and Randy and others in the band leave him alone. Daniel does his thing, then does a stage dive into the crowd. No one pushes him, no one kicks him or punches him as had been reported on other sites the second time Daniel was on stage. He jumps off the stage and appears to hit the ground as the fans don’t catch him.
Scene #3: This is the footage other sites are playing that shows Randy Blythe loosely holding Daniel’s hair to lead him back into the crowd. You’ll notice that as Randy leads with one hand, the stage security guard shoves with two hands. Has this guard been arrested? Has he been questioned?
Here’s a better quality version via Metal Delirium (in a different order than the above):
In the section marked “#2” in the above clip, it does look like Randy had some contact with the stage diver’s hair but that the security guard did most of the pushing.
We aren’t sure where this footage came from or who filmed it, but this is perhaps the most crucial piece of evidence that’s surfaced to date. It would appear, as stated above, that Randy did not have any part in injuring Daniel. It should be pointed out though that by no means is this footage definitive; it’s pretty grainy, and everything’s moving really fast. And we’ve yet to really hear anything significant from the Lamb of God in any official capacity. Hopefully this new video goes a long way towards proving what we all hope so desperately to believe: that Randy is innocent.
Blythe remains in a Prague prison, where he could remain for as long as ten more days, despite being willing to pony up $200,000 bail. Our thoughts are with him — he must be scared beyond belief, a true nightmare.
