TODAY ALREADY BLOWS: PETER DOLVING QUITS THE HAUNTED
I’m breaking with our regular posting schedule because I just woke up to find this wretched news and I don’t see any point sitting on it for an hour.
Peter Dolving has posted the below message on his Facebook page:
“I am officially quitting The Haunted. After years of working with the band, I am out. I have had it. I will NOT answer questions to why. It’s no one elses business. Thank you very much. I am looking forward to seeing you people at other shows with other projects.”
The Haunted then confirmed the news with a posting on their own Facebook page:
“Peter has decided to leave The Haunted permanently.
We don’t have any more news or info for you regarding this at the moment,
but stay tuned for future updates…“We just wanted to put and end to all the rumors out there.”
So that fucking sucks.
Longtime readers will know that Dolving is a favorite here at MetalSucks — the dude even did some blogging for us way back in 2008. And I know this isn’t the first time Dolving has split with the band, and I know The Haunted even did good work with his replacement, Marco Aro — a lot of fans, myself included, hold Made Me Do It in very high regard — but it still makes me grumpy.
Moth-er-FUCK-er!
So now we all get to sit around and wonder who Dolving’s successor is gonna be. Personally, I vote for Aro to return to the fold, if for no other reason than because of The Rule of Third Vocalists, which dictates that the third vocalist to join a band after that band is already well-known is completely fucked (see: Gary Cherone, Blaze Bayley, Dan Nelson who was technically Anthrax’s fourth singer but let’s be real no one gives two fucks about Neil Turbin and even if you do you could still argue that John Bush ultimately got screwed, etc.). Aro, on the other hand, would most likely be welcomed back by fans with open arms. So, um, yeah.
I’m ill-researched so I have no idea what Aro is up to right now… I know Face Down is dunzo, though, so that shouldn’t be an issue. And nothing on his Facebook page suggests to me that he’s too busy to re-join the band.
ANYWAY, grab a whiskey and commiserate with me re: Dolving’s departure in the comments section below. Some of you will actually think this is good news, but some of you are retarded, so it all evens out in the end.
