CHILDREN OF BODOM. DEVIN TOWNSEND. U.S. SUMMER TOUR. YES YES Y’ALL.
Hard to believe, but I don’t think I’ve actually seen Children of Bodom live since they did Gigantour in 2008. I blame Alexi Laiho’s broken arm (in 2009) and choosing to tour with Black Label Society (in 2010) as the culprits.
But that’s gonna change this summer, fer sure. ‘Cause look what Heavy Devy tweeted yesterday:
Can I get a “FUCK YEAH!” please? That is a great bill, and I tip my hat to whomever thought of it. Hopefully dates will be unveiled soon.
In other Devin news: Mr. Townsend is apparently putting together a live DVD and a box set. Sez the man himself:
“So this intense period of time that has resulted in the four albums of the Devin Townsend Project, as well as a new band, and a bevy of other things is cresting at the end of this year in some VERY special shows!
“I will be performing each album in its entirety for a DVD as well as album release to coincide with the boxset. These shows are very exclusive and will be held in special venues in the U.K., and seating will be limited. The tickets will go on sale soon and it’s best to reserve if you want to be a part of this.
“I have been planning these shows with the new management and we believe that this year will end in some pretty special ways. Preparations have begun now, and we would love you to be a part of it.”
So I’m not clear from the statement how many of these shows Devin is doing — presumably one for each of the four records in the DTP cycle, although I could be wrong — but if you live in the U.K. and you don’t go to at least one of these gigs, I judge you, and I judge you harshly.
