NEW GRIDLINK: THE BEST TWO MINUTES AND THIRTY-FOUR SECONDS OF YOUR DAY
I somehow missed that Jon Chang’s Gridlink were even working on new material. Luckily, Crustcake schooled me today when they posted news of not one, but two new (unmastered) Gridlink songs currently streaming on the band’s MySpace page: a “karaoke version” (read: currently without vocals) of “Orphan,” which apparently also be the name of the new album, and a track called “Hearts.”
It’s grind and it’ Gridlink, so listening to both songs will take less than three minutes of your day, even as they induce the feeling that you’d like to chop through someone’s face with an ice skate. But the last Gridlink album, Amber Gray, was something like twelve or thirteen minutes long, so the band has presumably now released about a fifth of the album. They’ve definitely got one horn up so far!
(In fact, the vinyl version of this new release will contain said offering only on side A — side B will be Amber Gray. So, yeah, this won’t be Maiden-album length, surprising no one.)
Check out the new shit here. Orphan will be out February 22 on Hydra Head.
