NERDFEST 2011 FEAT. SYMPHONY X, NEVERMORE AND SOILWORK COMING TO A THEATER NEAR YOU
Can I get a “heck yes!” from all the nerds in the house?
Heck yes!
Reader Daniel Borbet just sent us a link to an event posted at the website of NYC’s Best Buy Theater — formerly the not-at-all-more-appealingly-named Nokia Theater — for a Symphony X show with Nevermore, Soilwork, Powerglove and Blackguard in tow. Yowza, that’s some serious nerdage right there! The show is booked for April 22, 2011 which seems like an eternity from now, but such is the case when foreign bands like Soilwork are involved and visas need to be procured, flights needs to be booked, and so on and so forth.
Warrel Dane’s show-ending promise after Nevermore’s blazing NYC set the other night — “We’ll be back. The Conspiracy is not yet over.” — rings true, and we didn’t even have to wait that long to find out. Lucky Axl, who was too sick to attend Tuesday’s show, will get another chance to witness the intensity of Nevermore live as captured in the above vid from that night. I’m not a huge Symphony X fan but not for any particular reason; I just never sat down with an album of theirs right and proper, so maybe now’s the time (although I do remember enjoying their performance at Gigantour 2005 or thereabouts). We all know I’m a Soilwork megafan, and they’re always fun live. Blackguard were fun opening for Nevermore, and Powerglove are all about the fun. I’d say this is gonna be a really fucking fun night full of nerdy metal; presumably more dates will be announced soon.
