PROTEST THE HERO WORKING ON NEW RECORD, TIM’S BEARD

Protest the Hero’s 2008 release Fortress was full of all sorts of epic win — it made #2 on my year-end list (topped only by Gojira) and generally excited prog freaks and fans of good music the world over. It’s gonna be a hard one to top.

But the show must go on, and Protest the Hero are gonna do their damnedest to out-do the un-out-doable. With writing for the new record now complete, pre-production has commenced, and this morning Metal Insider posted a video of the band laying down their pre-pro tracks and goofing around (as always). We get to hear some bits and pieces of new music which should be very exciting for any PtH fan… and predictably, they sound fan-fucking-tastic. Looks like guitarist Tim Millar has re-grown his stellar beard, and with any luck and dedication he’ll be able to make another run at the World Beard and Mustache Championship, to be held in Trondheim, Norway (M E T A L) in 2011.

Can’t wait for this record. Hopefully it’ll be out before year’s end.
