MACHINE HEAD VS. WALT DISNEY, ROUND 2
So last week the Walt Disney Company forced the House of Blues located on its Disneyland property to cancel the inaugural show of the Machine Head/Arch Enemy Black Tyranny Tour (also featuring Throwdown and Arch Enemy). Even though at least one MetalSucks reader felt that this was really doing all involved parties a favor because it’s “not metal” to have a show on Disney property, the fact is that this was a bullshit move that wasn’t about being “metal” or “not metal;” it was about putting the tour, at the very last minute, into a situation where it had to move to a venue 70 miles away.
Well, Disney strikes again. Last night MetalSucks received a press release from Machine Head, which reads, in part:
“In a not-so-stunning move, The Walt Disney Company have once again pressured promoter Live Nation into canceling Machine Head’s performance at a House of Blues venue on Disney property, this time in Orlando, a mere four days after the band’s previous announcement called out the corporation for their underhanded tactics regarding the cancellation of Friday’s House of Blues Anaheim show on 2 days notice.”
I don’t know how far Disney is going to take this “no metal” policy – it’s hard for me to imagine them banning, say, Velvet Revolver from the premises. But who the fuck knows. This is the last Black Tyranny date on Disney property, so hopefully this is the last we’ll have to hear about this bull crap.
